The honey by itself is a good remedy, you just need to rub a little into your palms and all over hands for few minutes, wash it off with warm water and pat dry and apply moisturizer.
But if you want to make it more effective, you can add olive oil and lemon juice, mix them well, and apply it to your hands, leave it for 15 to 20 minutes, wash it off with warm water, pat it dry and moisturize your hands. You can repeat this two or three times a week.

If your hands are not only rough and dry, but they are cracked, then use aloe vera, because it is the perfect solution. Aloe vera due to the enzymes and other components present in it provides a right balance of moisture, proteins, and vitamins to the dry hands. Aloe vera as an herb helps in healing the cracks in your hands by regenerating the skin cells. It is not oily or greasy, so you can apply it on your hands whenever you wish.
You should get aloe vera leaf or aloe vera gel.
You should cut open the leaf, scrape out the gel from within, apply it on your hands, and leave it for 15 to 20 minutes and then wash off with warm water, pat dry and use moisturizer. You can apply this gel as much as you want to, but you should apply it at least twice a day.
But be sure when using store bought aloe gel to buy the one that doesn’t contain any other substance and is pure aloe vera gel.

The powerful antioxidants that the Vitamin E oil has it moisturizes your hands and it gives you softer skin, but also it helps fill up the fissures. The fact that it heals your dry cracked hands is possible because this oil helps rejuvenate your skin and heal the ruptured skin of your hands.
You should get a ½ teaspoon of vitamin E oil or you can use a vitamin E capsule.
Be sure if using the vitamin E capsule to puncture it so you can get the oil from it, then rub the oil on your hands for few minutes, but don’t absorb it into your skin, and you should repeat this two or three times a day.
- Homemade lotion;
Instead of buying expensive hand lotions, you can make one at home that will contain all natural ingredients.
You should get 1/3 cup of coconut oil, 1/4 cup of almond/olive/peanut oil or any other vegetable or plant oil of your choice, one cup of cocoa/shea/jojoba butter, 1/8 cup of beeswax that is grated, one tablespoon of honey, one tablespoon of aloe vera gel, 2 to 4 drops of any essential oil (this is optional) and few drops of wheat germ oil/vitamin E oil (also optional).
You should combine the coconut and the other oil of your choice together with the butter you are using, then add the beeswax, and then heat the mixture, but keep the heat setting on low, and when all these things melt down, remove the mixture from heating medium. Then add honey and aloe vera gel to the solution, and if you use essential oil and/or the wheat germ/vitamin E oil, add them as well and give the mixture a good stir. Let this cool down to the room temperature and put it in the refrigerator so it gets hardened, and once this is done, take it out and whip the lotion by using a blender for about five minutes. After this, pour it into a jar, cover it with a lid and leave it to get solid. You can use this once or twice a day, but don’t forget to use it before going to bed at night and keep it in the refrigerator.
- Baking soda-lemon juice remedy.
If you have not only dry and rough but also black and dull hands, then this remedy will make your hands soft and smooth. The pH level of your skin is balanced by the baking soda, and it exfoliates the skin and sloughs off dead cells. The best solution for skin lightening is the lemon juice because the citric acid present in it lightens the dark spots and discoloration on your skin.
You should get two tablespoons of baking soda, two tablespoons of honey and two tablespoons of lemon juice.
You need to mix all ingredients to get a smooth paste, then wash your hands with gentle soap and warm water and pat them dry, and then apply the mixture to your hands and rub lightly for a couple of minutes. Leave it for another ten to twelve minutes and then wash off with lukewarm water, pat dry and apply moisturizer, and repeat this two to three times a week.
If you want to prevent dry and rough hands, then you should forget washing hands every now and then, because nature has powerful means to protect your skin from bacterial infections and you don’t need to wash your hands every second hour. When it is inevitable, then use mild soaps, not harsh ones and don’t use too hot or too cold water. If you can’t imagine being with wet hands, just pat them dry with soft cloth or towel, and wear cotton gloves when you do household or gardening work, and rubber gloves when you wash dishes. You should scrub your hands once a week and you should use a humidifier in the winter season. When going to sleep at night, always use hand cream or moisturizer. You should eat foods high in vitamins and other essential minerals so your skin gets enough nutrients, and drink plenty of water if you want to keep your skin hydrated. To protect your hands from UV sun rays, use sunscreen.
